International Cooperation
The Austrian Center of Philosophy for Children cooperates with numerous domestic and foreign universities, educational institutions as well as NGOs within the framework of research and EU projects or exchange programs.
The philosophy of children and young people has gained considerable importance at universities, in teaching practice, in teaching media and in didactic theory, not only in the USA - starting from the Institute for the Advancement of Philosophy of Children (Montclair/New Jersey) - but also in Europe, Asia and Australia. As a new branch of research, as a teaching principle and as a separate subject in schools, philosophy of children and youth is already more or less established in some countries and further developments are underway.
The Austrian Center for Philosophy of Children is an active member of the "International Council for Philosophical Inquiry with Children" (ICPIC), and a founding member of the "European Foundation for the Advancement of Doing Philosophy with Children" (SOPHIA). One of the goals of both international institutions is to promote the exchange of experiences between scholars and practitioners from more than 80 countries and to initiate meetings and congresses.
