International Conference of Philosophy for Children

14-17 November 2024, University of Graz

"Experiences and expectations- In the field of tension between philosophy, science, technology and education"

14-17 November 2024, University of Graz
Meerscheinschlössl, Mozartgasse 3, 8010 Graz/ Austria

In the context of technological and social change, the congress deals with the tense relationship between philosophy, science, technology and education. These areas influence each other and also shape the way young people think and act. This interplay gives rise to diverse experiences and expectations. Communication plays a key role here.

The complex networking of knowledge realities calls for new processual thinking and new design options. How can we work together to strengthen trust in education and interest in science and democracy? How can education be rethought? What are the prerequisites for realising sustainable educational work for all? Can education and science enable people to face challenges such as climate change, digitalisation or growing social inequalities and develop solutions? What contribution can philosophy make to support society in these rapid processes of change?

The aim of the congress is to present new approaches, enable philosophical discussions of current phenomena, promote the exchange between different disciplines and provide a knowledge base and food for thought on concept developments in the field of education and offer all interested parties an opportunity to discuss practice and research together with international experts.

The topics of the conference will focus on the following areas:

  • Philosophy, science and technology
  • Human rights and democracy
  • Science and communication
  • Community of inquiry (research community)
  • Critical thinking
  • Digitalisation and ethics
  • Connections between communication and way of life
  • Inter- and transdisciplinarity - multiculturalism
  • Philosophical perspectives on education
