Borders
From St Germain to the EU - One hundred years of the border (2019-2020)
Project Number: 609238-CITIZ-1-2019-1-SI-CITIZ-REMEM
The European Union emerged from the ruins of two world wars, but its roots lie in the common European values of freedom and tolerance. Today, Europe faces challenges that will undoubtedly shape the future of our society.
2019 marks the 100th anniversary of the border between Austria and Slovenia. The Treaty of St Germain established a border where there was none before, as the region belonged to the Duchy of Styria for centuries. We will examine this specific border in order to learn more about borders in general.

The aim of the EU project is to give people from the border a voice. By working together with partners from EU countries, we create a transnational atmosphere that promotes intercultural dialogue and allows us to look at Europe from different perspectives. Everyone involved in the project carries forward the idea of equality and active citizenship as well as a shared responsibility for the future of Europe.
"From Saint Germain to the EU - 100 Years of Border" is a project of the Austrian Society for Children's Philosophy (AT), whose partners are Društvo za evropsko zavest (SI), Organ Vida International Photography Organisation (CRO) and Fotoklub Maribor (SI).
