International co-operation
The Austrian Society for Philosophy with Children co-operates with numerous universities and educational institutions in Austria and abroad
The Austrian Center of Philosophy with Children and Youth cooperates with numerous domestic and foreign universities, educational institutions as well as NGOs within the framework of research and EU projects or exchange programs.
The philosophy with children and teenagers has gained considerable importance at universities, in teaching practice, in teaching media and in didactic theory, not only in the USA - starting from the Institute for the Advancement of Philosophy with Children (Montclair/New Jersey) - but also in Europe, Asia and Australia. As a new branch of research, as a teaching principle and as a separate subject in schools, philosophy with children and youth is already more or less established in some countries and further developments are underway.
The Austrian Center for Philosophy with Children and Youth is an active member of the "International Council for Philosophical Inquiry with Children" (ICPIC), and a founding member of the "European Foundation for the Advancement of Doing Philosophy with Children" (SOPHIA). One of the goals of both international institutions is to promote the exchange of experiences between scholars and practitioners from more than 80 countries and to initiate meetings and congresses.
